Diving is a very social hobby. The club supports the social aspect of diving by organising regular events for the membership including, BBQs, comedy nights, trips out on week nights or weekends and day trips to local attractions.

Club Facilities

We have our own clubhouse where we meet every Thursday. We have plenty of space, with capacity to cater for up to 60 people for courses, social activities or just meeting on the regular club nights. Our own AV-equipped classroom is ideal for theory teaching or watching the latest underwater adventure on the big screen and we also have plenty of room to store and maintain our two well-equipped diving RIBS and diving equipment.

Previous Social Events

Comedy Night

drydiveThree comedians, a compere and a curry... what more could you want? The 2014 Bushy Divers comedy night was a hoot! We had a packed house and the curry went down a treat. With the lighting and staging kindly provided by MTS (Craig, John and Cheryl) there was a great atmosphere in the club hut. The three acts were hilarious and the compere managed to make fun of the audience in a way we never thought possible! The event even attracted some members of other local Dive clubs and a dog!

Thanks to Alex and Shenaz for sorting out the Curry and Lesley and Caz for inviting some fantastic acts for the stage.

Christmas Party

The week before christmas we celebrated the fesive season with mince pies, mulled wine and a Christmas raffle which raised £130 for the club. Thanks to all who attended and contributed to the festive spirit!

Dry Dive at London Hyperbaric Chamber

drydiveA dry dive is a great opportunity to experience diving to depth, and the associated physiologyical problems of narcosis, breathing dense air and the pressure on the body without the risks associated with going unerwater. Whipps Cross hospital is the home of the London Hyperbaric Chamber and 10 members of the club went there on a blazing hot Sunday in July (the day of the Wimbeldon tennis men's final) to carry out a dry dive to 40 metres equivalent pressure (5 atm).

This is an experience that you have to do to fully understand; but at a depth of 40m it can been likened to being put in a hot closed box with a group of mildly drunk people! the effect of nitrogen narcosis was apparent to all involved very quickly (some quicker than others!) and we all had a great experience. Thanks to the attendants and staff at the chamber for putting on a great day for us!

Bushey Divers at the London Dive Show

LIDSBushey & Borehamwood Sub-Aqua Club (aka Busheydivers) have had a fantastic two days in a Pod within the BSAC area of the London Dive Show in ExCel, London.

Thanks to all those who visited us at the show. The six club members (Cheryl, Wayne, James, Paula, Steve and Dougal) who manned the stall got to meet lots of divers from other clubs as well as make new friends and allies within the diving community. The club has certainly benefitted from this experience and we even gained a few members!

Thanks to everyone who visited our stand!

How to Find our Clubhouse

Our clubhouse is based in the Lincolnsfields center (postcode: WD23 2ES) , behind the Bushey Grove Leisure center, which incidentally houses our training pool. Our club night is Thursday, we are normally at the pool from around 8.30pm - why not drop down and say Hi?
